Shakyamuni Statue

Shakyamuni Statue
Many years ago I was give a little statue of what I think is a Standing Buddha statue.?

I am not sure what is constructed from or how old it is. It is very heavy for its size as it is solid metal, possibly bronze. The base is quite light and looks like marble, however it does appear as if it was added on later. I would certainly appreciate if some one could give me their opinion of this statue. It stands approximately 250mm high and 70mm wide at the shoulder. The figure itself is depicted in an upright position with one arm down at the side and the other arm bent at the elbow with the palm of the hand facing the front. The palm has some kind of pattern engraved upon it. The garment is a single item but covering the left shoulder only. I have pictures of the statue and can provide these if required. The closest picture I have found on the internet is one that is described as a standing Buddha “probably Shakyamuni”. If you go to google images and use the search parameter “standing Bronze Buddha figures” it will appear on the far right of the first line of images
Thank you

It sounds like you have a statue of Amitabha Buddha.

The Pure Land tradition of Mahayana Buddhism focuses its practices on Amitabha. This tradition is popular in China, Vietnam, Korea, and Japan.

Adherents repeat Amitabha’s name over and over again as a mantra, in the belief that doing so will result in rebirth into a “pure land” where there is no suffering.

Other manifestations of Buddha (Shakyamuni, for example) are usually represented in a seated position. Amitabha, on the other hand, is almost always shown standing.

The links below will give you more information (and images you can compare).
